INFORMATION ABOUT MoMi FOR YOUR SPECIFIC SITUATION
The MoMi legislation does not apply to you; it only applies to non-EU/EEA students, in possession of a Dutch residence permit for the purpose of 'study'. You may therefore ignore all information about the MoMi legislation.
Please note: if you have a different type of residence permit than for the purpose of 'study', please send a scan of the front and back to isd@rug.nl, if you haven't done so already.

INFORMATION ABOUT MoMi FOR YOUR SPECIFIC SITUATION
The Dutch MoMi legislation demands that you need to obtain all ECTS (100%) of your pre-programme / pre-master programme / foundation year within 12 months, in order to keep your residence permit in the next academic year and to be able to continue with your associated degree programme.
What do I need to do if I expect to obtain insufficient study progress?
- There are unfortunately no possibilities for an exemption if you achieve insufficient progress. Also in case you experienced excusable reasons that prevented you from achieving sufficient progress, the Dutch legislation does not allow you to qualify for an exemption. Please make sure that you obtain all ECTS of your programme.
- You may always contact your study/academic advisor if you would like to discuss your study progress and possible struggles, and together look for any possible means of support.
|
INFORMATION ABOUT MoMi FOR YOUR SPECIFIC SITUATION
Exchange/visiting students can only stay in Groningen for a maximum period of one year. Therefore, the MoMi legislation is irrelevant for you. You may thus ignore all information about the MoMi legislation.
Note that you may always contact your study/academic advisor if you would like to discuss your study progress and possible struggles, and together look for any possible means of support.

INFORMATION ABOUT MoMi FOR YOUR SPECIFIC SITUATION (Ba-1st-Sep)
Regarding your study progress, you are dealing with two types of legislation/regulation:
1. The Dutch MoMi legislation, demanding that you obtain at least 50% of the statutory number of ECTS per academic year in order to keep your residence permit for the next study year. Starting in September means that you need to obtain at least 50% of 60 ECTS = 30 ECTS in the current academic year, in order to keep your residence permit for the next academic year.
2. The University of Groningen regulation about the Binding Study Advice (BSA), for which a different ECTS-requirement applies, to be allowed to continue in the second year of the same study programme.
Please note that this webtool only informs you about the MoMi ECTS-requirement. Fulfilling the MoMi ECTS-requirement does not automatically mean that you also fulfill the BSA ECTS-requirement, and vice versa. Also, being exempted for the BSA ECTS-requirement does not mean that you are exempted for the MoMi ECTS-requirement. Please visit this website for more information about the BSA regulation, or contact your study/academic advisor if you have questions about this topic.
What do I need to do if I expect to obtain insufficient study progress?
1. Carefully read our information about possibilities for an exemption to the ECTS-requirement.
2. If you believe that you might qualify for an exemption due to excusable reasons, and if you haven't done so before in this academic year: please continue filling in this form below. Do not wait for (the results of) re-sits. We will contact you in response to your writings, to discuss whether a further appointment with a student counsellor is necessary.
Note that you may always contact your study/academic advisor if you would like to discuss your study progress and possible struggles, and together look for any possible means of support.
